Oil & Gas Admins International Partners with HMNS Wiess Energy Hall for OGAP Certification

O&GA International has partnered with the Houston Museum of Natural Science’s Wiess Energy Hall for the Oil & Gas Administrative Professionals (OGAP) Certification!  

The OGAP Certification’s robust criterion is designed to give the administrative professional an overview of the industry from the “reservoir to the pump” and to measure and validate the professional’s understanding and knowledge of the oil & gas industry.  It adds to the professional’s technical knowledge, and provides a venue that defines the professional’s value and improved marketability within the oil and gas industry. The program is endorsed by oil industry experts and leaders from a cross-section of global oil and gas companies and organizations.

Upon completion of the certification, professionals will have an opportunity to participate in a guided tour of Wiess Energy Hall at the Houston Museum of Natural Science for a “visual” experience of the OGAP Certification content.  The tours will take place the fourth Thursday of each month.

Participate as a volunteer with O&GA International at the Women’s Global Leadership Conference in Energy November 1-2, 2017!  We look forward to the opportunity to work with other members of the energy community for this event and to showcase our organization!  

Volunteers will have the opportunity to participate on the 1st or 2nd in the morning or afternoon and will received a waived entry fee to participate.  All O&GA members and supporters are welcome to volunteer.*  We will contact confirmed volunteers no later than October 20th.

SPE-GCS Upstream Oil And Gas Professionals Hiring Event

The SPE-GCS Upstream Oil And Gas Professionals Hiring Event is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 3rd.  It aims to connect job seekers with upstream oil and gas employers. In addition, job seekers will get access to resources from sponsors, collaborating organizations, start-up employers and staffing agencies active in the upstream oil and gas sector.  Oil & Gas Admins International was recently added as a collaborating organization for this event.  

Registration closes on 9/27/2017.  The 8:30 and 10:00 time slots are already sold out, but the 11:00 and 12:00 start times still have space available for job seeker registrations.

THANK YOU to DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Houston at Greenway Plaza for hosting O&GA International August 17th!

Sending out a huge THANK YOU to DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Houston at Greenway Plaza for hosting O&GA International’s networking event August 17th!  The event was beautifully decorated with pink and green décor and the food spread was amazing!  Event guests were treated to fish tacos, seasoned jicama, a macaroni station, cheese and crackers, chips and salsa, yummy desserts and a deliciously refreshing beverage station.  Each guest had the opportunity to take a tour of the hotel and, as a treat, each guest received a little basket of DoubleTree’s famous cookies to take home. 

Debra Womack- Bourghs, O&GA’s Immediate Past Executive Ambassador, shared information about Oilfield Helping Hands, a nonprofit charitable organization that helps oilfield families with financial assistance in times of crisis.  She also shared a personal story of how the organization has helped her and how it helps others in the oil and gas industry.  To learn more about Oilfield Helping Hands and how to receive assistance or how to get involved and help the organization, please click here or contact Gary Brooks

Today we celebrate the office heroes.  The backbone of oil and gas companies.  The ones that work tirelessly and sometimes thanklessly behind the scenes.  The Administrative Professional.

Oil & Gas Admins International was formed to celebrate those heroes.  In 2013 after researching and finding that there were no trade organizations or associations in the oil and gas industry that focused specifically on the career and personal development of administrative and support professionals (and after the initial shock), Oil & Gas Admins International was established to provide those opportunities.

The oil and gas industry had long recognized the importance of developing their employees and providing places to network, share best practices and lessons learned and to create industry standards through organizations like SPE (established in 1957) for Petroleum Engineers, AAPG (established in 1917) and SEG (established in 1930) for Geologists and Geophysicists, and IADC (established in 1962) for Drilling and Completion Engineers, but had missed an opportunity to create those same avenues for support professionals, thus O&GA was formed!

O&GA works to expose oil and gas administrative and support professionals to industry information and technologies to develop the necessary skills required for career advancement and to most effectively support the global and diverse oil and gas industry. The O&GA Professional Certification ensures oil and gas administrative professionals produce outstanding results for industry corporations and professionals.

The annual Oil & Gas Admins International Conference and Vendor Exhibition offers information, connections, inspiration and motivation to help oil and gas professionals succeed and excel in a challenging and demanding industry. It is a one-day conference scheduled to be held Thursday, June 15, 2017 from 7:30 AM until 5:30 PM with a vendor exhibition during lunch from 11:30 AM – 1:30 PM.

The world operates in no small part thanks to the oil and gas industry.  No oil and gas company works well without a good foundation and a strong and solid support system. Today, we recognize that support system.  The unsung heroes.  The Oil & Gas Administrative and Support Professionals.
