Members of the Houston O&GA International Leadership Team had the great opportunity to visit the Shell campus in Calgary, AB Canada last Thursday, November 7th. The team met and networked with some of Shell’s amazing administrative professionals and shared information about O&GA.
In addition to making great new connections at Shell and networking at Milestones restaurant, the leadership team also had team building activities in the breathtaking locations of Banff and Lake Louise.
We truly appreciate our wonderful Shell hosts and look forward to continue to build wonderful O&GA International leadership, membership, and amazing partnerships across the globe.

Someone you know could be experiencing a mental illness or crisis. Can you help them??
You are more likely to encounter someone – friend, family member, co-worker, neighbor, or member of the community – in an emotional or mental health crisis than someone having a heart attack. Mental Health First Aid teaches a 5-step action plan to offer initial help to people with the signs and symptoms of a mental illness or in a crisis and connect them with the appropriate professional, peer, social, or self-help care.
MHFA is an evidence-based program that is being used internationally.
- Identify mental health crises and concerns
- Provide help, comfort, and support to promote and enhance recovery
- Preserve life when a person may be a danger to self or others
- Identify signs & symptoms of common mental health disorders,
- Build awareness of community resources for mental health
- Understand stigma associated with mental illness and its effects
ALGEE, the Mental Health First Aid Action Plan
Assess for risk of suicide or harm
Listen non-judgmentally
Give reassurance and information
Encourage appropriate professional help
Encourage self-help and other support strategies
LENGTH: 2 hours.
These workshops are underwritten by Kaiser Permanente, the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund, The Meadows Foundation, and the Community Foundation of Northern Colorado. Mental Health America of Greater Houston provides the outreach and certified trainers as we help rebuild hope and the well-being of people throughout the region.

The OGAP Certification’s robust criterion is designed to give the administrative professional an overview of the industry from the “reservoir to the pump” and to measure and validate the professional’s understanding and knowledge of the oil & gas industry. It adds to the professional’s technical knowledge, and provides a venue that defines the professional’s value and improved marketability within the oil and gas industry. The program is endorsed by oil industry experts and leaders from a cross-section of global oil and gas companies and organizations.
Upon completion of the certification, professionals will have an opportunity to participate in a guided tour of Wiess Energy Hall at the Houston Museum of Natural Science for a “visual” experience of the OGAP Certification content. The tours will take place the fourth Thursday of each month.
