An architect in shaping the modern energy workforce, Katie Mehnert is the Chief Executive Officer and Founder of ALLY Energy, ALLY Energy delivers cutting-edge recruitment, retention, and employer branding solutions, empowering organizations to build resilient, future-focused teams and communities.
With a corporate career marked by global leadership roles at BP and Shell, Katie established herself as an expert in driving transformational change within the energy sector. Appointed as an Ambassador to the U.S. Department of Energy under the Trump and Biden Administrations, she is also a member of the National Petroleum Council, offering strategic counsel on workforce development in energy.
A sought-after speaker and published author, her insights have been featured in outlets such as Scientific American, Forbes, The Hill, CNBC, and CNN. She authored Grow with the Flow, co-authored the children’s book Everyday Superheroes: Women in Energy and will publish The Ask, in 2025. Additionally, Katie has contributed to films like Hot Money, produced by Academy Award-winner Jeff Bridges and retired NATO General Wesley Clark on the financial complexities of climate change, and Dirty Nasty People, which examines the evolution of the energy workforce.
A graduate of Louisiana State University, Katie also completed Rice University’s Executive Energy program and the University of Texas LBJ Campaign School for Women. She has founded several organizations focusing on advancing energy innovation, workforce development, energy literacy, and artificial intelligence. Katie is an advisor and investor to early-stage startups. She serves on the board member of the Allies in Energy, American Conservation Coalition, and Houston AI. Off the clock, Katie is an avid marathoner, a devoted wife to her husband, Mark, and a proud mother to their 14-year-old daughter, Ally.
