NYSHA CHADERTON, PhD

Nysha Chaderton, PhD earned her BSc in Geology from the University of the West Indies, Mona, Jamaica, in 2001. After returning to Barbados, she worked for two years as a Petroleum Officer in the Energy Division of the Government of Barbados and was briefly seconded to the Barbados National Oil Company as a Mud Logger.
In 2003, Nysha began her studies at The University of Texas at Austin, where she received her MS in Geosciences in 2005 and her PhD in 2009.
Nysha joined ExxonMobil in 2008 and currently is a Senior Environmental & Regulatory Advisor in the Global Operations & Sustainability organization. She focuses on delivering process improvement solutions to the Unconventional Global Business Line. Over the past 16 years, she has held various roles across the Upstream, including Portfolio Advisor, Supervisor (Guyana Geoscience, Stratigraphy), Commercial Advisor (Americas Exploration), and Exploration/Production Geoscientist (Angola, Gulf of Mexico, California).
Nysha is also actively involved with the Jackson School of Geosciences at the University of Texas at Austin, serving on the Friends and Alumni Network Board since 2020 and is the immediate Past President. She has played a key role in revitalizing the alumni network in the greater Houston area.
Nysha has been married to Duane Williams, Head Tennis Coach at Prairie View A&M, for 16 years. They have two children, Aria (11) and Maxwell (13), and as a family, they enjoy traveling, hiking, and snorkeling in the Caribbean Sea.
